THE DRUMMER
The sun was full in the summer,
Caressing flow of sparkling streams.
Darting by a dragonfly drummer,
Its wings so sonic a steady theme.
Others joined the beat got louder,
Mesmerizing thoughts flicker by.
Resting on a leaf like a living sculpture,
Wings basking in the beams that dry.
A derelict building long forgotten,
Windows bare with no pane.
Timbers over the years are rotten,
Occupants never to return again.
Animals flourish in woody hollows,
Listening to the drummer's replies.
A hypnotic beat almost deemed to follow,
In the lush golden summer skies.
